Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of UEM Sunrise Berhad To Resign Effective 30 October 2020

UEM Sunrise Berhad (“UEM Sunrise” or the “Company”) announces that the resignation of its Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib will take effect on 30 October 2020.


Anwar relinquished his membership in the board development; governance & risk; and tender committees with effect from 19 October 2020.


A chartered accountant by profession with a wealth of experience in various industries, Anwar joined the Company as MD/CEO on 1 September 2014.


On behalf of UEM Sunrise, its Chairman of the Board Dato’ Noorazman Abd Aziz expressed his gratitude to Anwar. “We thank Anwar for his leadership and contribution over the past six years. During this time, UEM Sunrise has seen tremendous growth and maintained its presence as a leader in the industry serving our customers and various stakeholders in Malaysia, Australia and South Africa. We wish him the very best in his future endeavours,” said Dato’ Noorazman.


The Board has commenced the formal process of identifying a candidate for the MD/CEO position. In the interim, a Board Executive Committee (Board EXCO) has been formed to provide general oversight and governance during the transition period. Dato Noorazman added that the Board of Directors has full faith in the management team in managing the day-to-day operations of the Company, ensuring no disruption to the product and service excellence for which the Company is known for.
