KUALA LUMPUR, 4 DECEMBER 2024 – In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the Board of Directors of UEM Sunrise Berhad (“UEM Sunrise” or the “Company”) announced that its Chief Executive Officer, Sufian Abdullah has given notice of his resignation on 29 November 2024.
Sufian, who was appointed to the role on 2 February 2021, had expressed his interest to pursue other opportunities and will stay for the remainder of his notice period of three (3) months. His resignation will take effect on 28 February 2025.
“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have led UEM Sunrise through a transformative chapter and would like to sincerely thank the Board of Directors for their trust, as well as the incredible people of UEM Sunrise for their dedication. Together, we achieved remarkable milestones, and I am confident the Company will continue to grow, thrive and achieve even greater success in the years ahead,” said Sufian.
On behalf of the Board, UEM Sunrise’s Chairman, Datuk Hisham Hamdan, expressed his appreciation and thanked Sufian for his leadership and contribution over the years. “Under Sufian's leadership, UEM Sunrise saw strong recovery, expanded in Australia, and launched developments aligned with our strategic goals and recalibrated to meet our buyer preferences. His customer-centric and sustainable approach has driven our improved performance. We wish him the best in his future endeavours," said Datuk Hisham.
To ensure continued management of UEM Sunrise's business and operations, a transition plan will be executed for smooth handover of responsibilities. For this, the Board of Directors has named Hafizuddin Sulaiman, UEM Sunrise’s Chief Financial Officer as the “Officer in Charge” (“OIC”).
The Board has also formed an Oversight Committee comprised the following Board members – Christina Foo, Dato' Sr. Azmar Talib and Datuk Amran Hafiz Affifudin – to assist the OIC in discharging his duties. At the same time, the Board has commenced the formal process of identifying a candidate for the CEO position and an announcement will be made at the appropriate time.
