Funzone Teaches Young Ones To Embrace Physical Distancing By Spreading Their “one-metre Distancing Is My Happy” Wings

It was a new normal community initiative filled with COVID-19 SOPs on 22 August 2020 at the Stellar International School (SIS) in Almãs Puteri Harbour as the UEM Sunrise Community Centre Fun Zone and SIS sought to bring children and the community closer (but in a safe and distanced manner) together by educating them about physical distancing by making their own “One-Metre Distancing is My Happy” wings.

Gathering students from SIS and members of the Iskandar Puteri community, the “One-Metre Distancing is My Happy” programme aimed to create awareness in maintaining physical distancing among school students after schools had reopened. In doing so, the UEM Sunrise Community Centre Fun Zone also wanted to introduce and promote the UEM Sunrise Community Centre Fun Zone, Iskandar Puteri located at the Imperia, Puteri Harbour while promoting the UEM Sunrise brand values of Caring, Honest, Involved, Enthusiastic and Fun-Loving (CHIEF). As an engagement platform to further strengthen networking and rapport between Fun Zone and the communities, it was hoped that the event would create more awareness on the importance of maintaining physical distancing among students and the community within the new normal.

Overall, it was a fun day for the 32 kids involved as they showcased their creativity, innovation and enthusiasm in creating and spreading their wings using recycled cardboard. The day ended on a high note as teachers and parents praised the event for being an enjoyable community networking session that reinforced new normal awareness and good values among children by emphasizing sustainability, the recycling habit, and healthy community living.

Best of all, UEM Sunrise was able to showcase its value-added services to the Iskandar Puteri community while supporting retailers post-Movement Control Order (MCO). Stay safe, and remember: Physical distancing does not have to mean social distancing. Amid the Recovery MCO, we can still socialize and support one another by finding our happy together!
