On 21 March 2019, UEM Sunrise’s wholly owned subsidiary, Bandar Nusajaya Development Sdn Bhd, won an award at the Quality Assessment System in Construction (QLASSIC) DAY 2019 Presentation Ceremony at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre, Kuala Lumpur.
The event was launched by YB Tuan Baru Bian, Works Minister, in the presence of YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Syed Omar Sharifuddin Syed Ikhsan, Secretary-General, Works Ministry and YBhg. Datuk Abdul Razak Jaafar, Deputy Secretary-General, Works Ministry. It was also attended by representatives from various property developers and industry players. The main objective of QLASSIC DAY 2019 was to recognise excellence in quality within Malaysia’s construction industry.
QLASSIC is a system or method to measure and evaluate the workmanship quality of a building construction work based on Construction Industry Standard (CIS:7:2014). QLASSIC enables the quality of workmanship between construction projects to be objectively compared through a scoring system. Marks are awarded if the workmanship complies with the standard. These marks are then summed up to calculate the QLASSIC score (%) for the building construction project. With the slogan “Do Things Right the First Time and Every Time”, QLASSIC assessments are carried out through site inspection and use the principles of first-time inspection. Construction works that are rectified after an assessment will not be reassessed.
Estuari Gardens, Puteri Harbour by Bandar Nusajaya Development Sdn Bhd clinched the High QLASSIC Achievement Award – Landed Residential Development, with En. Ashraf Othman, General Manager, Development – Southern 1, collecting the award on behalf of UEM Sunrise. A total of 15 project owners, 17 contractors and 18 architects who achieved a QLASSIC scoring of 83 per cent or more received the QLASSIC Achievement Award through 20 development projects.
