It was an epic tale of triumph in adversity as close to 6,000 runners braved a thunderstorm and heavy rain to cross the finish line at the 32nd anniversary of the Seremban Half Marathon on 7 July 2019. The Seremban Half Marathon was organised by UEM Sunrise, in collaboration with Sunrise MCL Land Sdn Bhd, a joint venture development of UEM Sunrise and MCL Limited.

Held for the first time after 31 years at a new venue, the half marathon was hosted at the 488-acre boutique township of Forest Heights in the heart of Seremban city, five minutes away from Sikamat, Ampangan, Rahang, Senawang, Rasah, Paroi and Seremban 2. Runners were flagged off at 6.15 am onwards from the Starting Point at Precinct 1, with the release of the 21KM Open, 10KM Open, 10KM School, Special Category, 5KM Fun Run and 3KM VIP Run.

Prior to flag off, runners gathered for a Zumba warm-up which also saw the involvement of ecstatic Special Category participants. Interestingly, the Seremban Half Marathon is Malaysia’s oldest marathon event and the only one which hosts participation for the disabled.

The Seremban Half Marathon was graced by YAM Tunku Naquiyuddin ibni Tuanku Ja’afar, the Royal Patron of Seremban Half Marathon, YM Tunku Mohamed Alauddin, Vice Chairman of Seremban Half Marathon, Mr. Kenny Wong and En. Mohamed Rastam Shahrom, both Directors of Sunrise MCL Land Sdn. Bhd., and En. Azmy Mahbot and Mr. Teo Thian Eng, both UEM Sunrise Development Committee Members.

State representatives also came to show their support, with YB Tuan Haji Mohamad Taufek, Youth And Sports Development Action Committee Chairman State Executive Council (Exco) and State Assembly Member (ADUN) of Paroi, YB Ms. Nicole Tan, Women, Family and Welfare Affairs Committee Chairman, State Exco and ADUN of Bukit Kepayang, YB Ms. Mary Josephine, ADUN of Rahang, and YBhg. Dato’ Haji Zazali Salehudin, Seremban Municipal Council Yang Dipertua officiating the Seremban Half Marathon.
