As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, UEM Sunrise organised a Crime Prevention Talk for its PINTAR adopted school – Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Kiaramas in Kuala Lumpur on the 20th of September 2018. A collaboration between UEM Sunrise’s Corporate Communication Department and Auxiliary Police, the talk was held to raise awareness and educate the students on crime prevention and dealing with social issues such as bullying, sexual harassment and paedophilia.
With more than 100 students in attendance, Mr. Shamir Rajadurai, Crime Safety Specialist from Prevent Crime Now and DSP Foo Chek Seng of the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Bukit Aman, Kuala Lumpur shared their knowledge and experience on promoting personal safety, preventing crime, seeking help from the right authorities and more. The talk also focused on how early intervention and prevention can help to reduce the number of youths becoming victims of or involved in criminal activities.
The talk concluded with an exhibition featuring Police Patrol Car (MPV) and Motorcycle Patrol Unit (URB) vehicles provided by the Sentul District Police Headquarters. These vehicles are officially used by PDRM in combating crime and ensuring the safety of the nation.
UEM Sunrise will continue its CSR efforts by organising similar programmes in its PINTAR adopted schools to increase the level of awareness among students, teachers and the public regarding personal safety, crime prevention and dealing with social issues.
