30 August 2018
In commemorating Malaysia’s National Day 2018 celebrations, themed “Sayangi Malaysiaku”, UEM Sunrise organised a CSR programme at Siddharthan Care Centre on 30 August 2018, bringing Pre-Merdeka joy to 16 underprivileged children aged between 7 and 13 years old.
To instill the spirit of patriotism, the event began with the children and UEM Sunrise volunteers singing the National Anthem, “Negaraku”. Next, “Kiwi the Clown” performed a magic show featuring fun jokes, props and illusions. The day culminated with the children of Siddharthan Care Centre participating in a cake cutting ceremony with a cake specially baked and designed to look like the Malaysian Flag.
Representing UEM Sunrise, En. Mohamad Mawarid Zamzam, Deputy Senior Manager – Corporate Responsibility & Special Projects, Corporate Communication presented RM6,000 in financial aid to Siddharthan Care Centre, represented by their President, Mr. S.K. Manimaran. The financial aid from UEM Sunrise will be used to ease Siddhartan Care Centre's financial burden of operational expenses.
Founded in 2008, Siddharthan Care Centre is home to underprivileged children and orphans. The Centre’s objective is to assist these children in achieving a better future while ensuring that they receive basic needs and have access to education.
