titanSquad, assemble! The titanSquad, UEM Sunrise’s official Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) voluntary heroes, successfully completed their first mission, Gotong Royong Perdana with titanSquad & Special Kids Open Day on 16 March 2019 at SMK Kiaramas, Dutamas, Selangor! The 32 titanSquad heroes focused their powers on bringing smiles to the 200 students in attendance.
The titanSquad heroes began their mission by utilising their “photon blasts” to bake pizzas and make handcrafts together with the special kids. These special kids were heroes too, with their powers being affected by autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and inability to hear or speak. The activities gave the special kids a chance to develop their academic, entrepreneurial and motor skills in a relaxing and interactive environment. The second group of heroes flexed their muscles with SMK Kiaramas teachers, parents and students to wash cars, paint the special kids’ classroom walls and plant approximately 150 trees.
The mission was part of UEM Sunrise’s objective to engage and build rapport with the local communities by spending time with them. The event was also graced by SMK Kiaramas Principal, Pn. Dahanum Soyono accompanied by UEM Sunrise Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, En. Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib, who officiated the event by planting the first of the 150 trees, in line with SMK Kiaramas’ vision of going green for the environment.
